Prevent Duty

The Prevent Duty - to protect against radicalisation

Earlier this year the Government issued information about the Prevent Duty, which includes raising awareness of the radicalisation of children within education establishments.

Protecting children from this risk should be seen as part of a schools wider safeguarding duties. To fulfil the Prevent Duty, it is essential that everyone, including supply staff, are able to identify children who may be vulnerable to radicalisation.

As a supply candidate, working in schools, you have a responsibility to fulfil the Prevent Duty as described above, knowing what action you should take is you identify a child as vulnerable to radicalisation.
