SEND Teaching Assistant job vacancy in Wakefield, Temporary position

Are you a qualified SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge?

Are you passionate about providing support and building excellent rapport with children to encourage positivity and progression?

ITN Mark are currently working with secondary school in the West Yorkshire area that are looking for staff to join their school. The school for secondary pupils has a specialist provision within the school itself to assist and support children who need additional help within their school day, most of whom have a diagnosis of autism (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

The positions will be either supporting pupils in small groups or on a 1:1 basis. The ideal candidate would be resilient, be passionate about working in this type of school/environment and be willing to learn.

Skills required

  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a childcare based subject (Level 2 may also be considered with relevant experience)
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies
  • Have a consistent positive and patient approach to learning
  • Have experience of MAPPA or Team Teach
  • Have experience supporting children with Autism either in a care or education setting
  • Have some curriculum knowledge

Successful Teaching Assistants will

  • Support the children in all areas of the curriculum
  • Work with children one to one or in small groups
  • Assist with the preparation of the learning environment
  • Maintain pupil records
  • Provide extra support where needed in order to encourage this child to integrate and progress
  • Effectively liaise with staff, parents, carers and outside agencies if required
