Learning mentor needed for a PRU in Barking. job vacancy in Barking, Contract position

Do you have experience working with vulnerable children, many of whom demonstrate very challenging behaviour? Are you keen to make a difference to the lives of children whom require exceptional levels of support and guidance - many of whom simply want an opportunity to learn and progress?

A pupil referral unit (PRU) in Barking and Dagenham, easily accessible by public transport, is seeking a conscientious and dedicated learning mentor to support the academic and personal development of pupils with SEMH (social emotional and mental health needs). These pupils could potentially have a previous history of gang-related activities and incidences of exposure to sexual exploitation - therefore, a sensitive and professional approach towards working with these pupils is required.

In this role you will work with these pupils very closely; either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups; to support the academic and personal development of these pupils, with an emphasis to ultimately facilitate examination access and success. You will also be a key point of contact for any pupils whom are experiencing difficulty in the classroom or externally, and require intervention to facilitate their reintegration back into lessons.
