Head of Residential Care - SEN School job vacancy in Halifax, Permanent position

On behalf of my client I am looking for to recruit a Head of Care for a growing and flourishing SEN school. I am looking for an individual who wants to make a difference, is passionate about giving each student a dedicated and bespoke experience which will enhance their learning capabilities, through a nurturing and collaborative approach. The role is offered on a permanent basis.

About the School

A mixed gender School that accommodates up to 12 children and young people from ages 11-19. The School aims to develop successful, confident and responsible children and young adults by the use of individualised learning programmes and strategic frameworks in order to address the complex needs of the students. The curriculum integrates elements of numerous recognised learning schemes including Equals, ASDAN and AQA.

The Role

As Head of Care you will be responsible for shaping and delivering the home's Statement of Purpose and managing the team to achieve the same. Your key responsibilities will include;

  • Manage the care function of the Residential Special School and ensure the efficient operation of the service.
  • Produce a development plan for the service
  • Monitor carework and administrative functions of the home
  • Continually assess the needs of the children to prepare development plans
  • Recruitment of staff
  • Staff training and development
  • Chair meetings
  • Organise duty rotas
  • Be part of an on call system

Candidate Specification

As Head of Care you must;

  • Hold the relelvant qualification - DipSW, CQSW, NVQ 4/5 in Working with Young People/Management or a preparedness to work towards the same.
  • Experience at senior level in a Children's home
  • Demonstrate sound working knowledge of Child Protections Issues and Procedures
  • Ability to exercise authority
  • Proven management skills
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
