1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant job vacancy in Cardiff, Permanent position

ITN Mark Education is urgently seeking to appoint an experienced Primary SEN Teaching Assistant for a pending full time, long-term home tuition 1:1 role. The position is located in Cardiff and is to begin as soon as feasibly possible, with the prospect of it going permanent for the right candidate. You will be working solely with a young pupil diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Global Delay, with the help of a qualified Primary SEN Teacher. However, no challenging behaviour is involved.

Applicants must have already obtained suitable experience, ideally supported by relevant qualifications. Previous experience of working with ALN children is essential, preferably with Cerebral Palsy. Knowledge or experience of PMLD, Makaton, PECS, Eye Gaze and Manual Handling would be beneficial.

You duties will include:

  • Work on a one to one basis with a child with special educational needs.
  • Act in accordance with policies, procedures and relevant legislation, particularly in relation to child protection, health and safety advice and behaviour management.
  • In conjunction with the designated teacher, contribute to the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of learning programmes for the pupil.
  • Participate in the delivery of local and national initiatives, for example literacy and numeracy strategies etc.
  • Monitor and contribute to the assessment and recording of the child's development, including keeping observational records where appropriate. Be involved in the sharing of this information.
  • Contributing to the preparation and tidying of the provision and outdoor area
  • Promote development and learning in the areas of physical, emotional, academic and social education.
  • To assist with language development, particularly oral language and taking part in individual and group discussions, storytelling and reading, mime and music work under the direct supervision of the teacher.
  • To develop a good relationships with the pupil, parents and other professionals.
  • Help to promote and in-still pupils' confidence and self esteem
