SEN teacher job vacancy in Birmingham, Contract position

We are currently recruiting for a SEN Specialist Teacher to work at a special educational school in the west midlands. The role will be on a long-term contract leading to a permanent position, the successful candidate will be providing support to children with Severe Learning Difficulties so experience of ASD, PMLD, MLD, SLD and ADHD.

The outstanding SEN School has recently been rewarded as outstanding in their most recent Ofsted report and hope to only continue to offer first class education and care to their students. The school has fantastic leadership and are fully supportive and able to offer guidance where needed.

The school caters for secondary pupils 11-19 and meets the needs of students with complex, profound and multiple learning difficulties, associated communication and language difficulties and challenging behaviours.

For this SEN Teaching role, you will be required to teach a Class of children with Severe Learning Difficulties and a wide range of needs including physical disabilities, autism, sensory impairment, and complex medical needs.

You must be fully qualified teacher holding QTS (Qualified Teachers Status) and ideally will have at least 2 years' experience teaching in an SEN school in the UK. Behaviour can be challenging at times so you will be supported by 2 teaching assistants throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • QTS (Qualified Teachers Status)
  • Current, valid DBS (update service)
  • Experience working in a SEN School.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies.
  • The ability to adapt quickly to a variety of situations.
  • Caring attitude and a passion to contribute the learning and development of pupils.
  • Be a confident person with a warm and friendly approach.
  • Able to apply behaviour policies effectively.
