Que Rico! VPO
ITN Mark Education has partnered with Que Rico! VPO to support the sustainable development of education related programs in deprived regions around the world.
Que Rico! VPO is an international charity that works on projects in developing countries worldwide alongside local communities and with the support of overseas volunteers.
ITN Mark will support two initiatives in 2010.
Cambodia – Siem Rap Orphanage
The orphanage in Siem Reap was built in February 2008 in an effort to bring shelter and support to orphaned, street and “at risk” children in the local community.
ITN Mark’s donation will support the building of two individual living/sleeping quarters to house the boys and girls separately, alongside the building of new classrooms and refurbishing their desks and chairs. We will also provide support in producing a proper curriculum to follow and help them with their day to day running costs.
Education at this stage of their lives will, hopefully, help them to break out of the poverty cycle themselves and in the long term provide support to their relatives who are unable to give the care required at present.
Uganda – Mengo Education Centre
As with most poor African states Ugandan society is seriously impacted upon by poverty with over 60% of the population living on under $2 a day. Whilst the state provides some level of formal education so much more needs to be done.
Que Rico! VPO offers ongoing support to “at risk” children in Mengo. ITN Mark’s contribution will go towards funding the Mengo Education Centre which provides safe accommodation, food and an education to 50 children.
The John Bowerman Sports Hall
ITN Mark Education is proud to present its annual donation for the John Bowerman Memorial Sports Award to our long standing client Preston Manor High School .The award was first presented in 2009 and is done so in memory of the late John ‘JB’ Bowerman who was an integral part of the ITN Mark team from 2002 to 2008. John was a hugely popular figure at ITN Mark during his six years with the company as Business Development Manager and tragically passed away in April 2008 after a long and brave battle with cancer.
Prior to entering the world of recruitment John had led a highly successful career of more than 30 years at Preston Manor, where he took on a range of roles – all the way from PE teacher, Head of PE, Senior Teacher through to School Governor following his retirement from teaching. Always quick with a joke, he was a well-known ITN Mark personality by virtually every secondary school in West London and his importance to the maintenance of relationships with schools was second to none. His immortal phrase we heard so many times of ‘know your teachers, know your schools’, still sums up the core values of any consultant throughout ITN Mark! Still missed by all who knew him, the memorial donation will help towards new sports gear for the school as well as a prize for the school’s sportsman of the year.
